Community Services

See detail below pertaining to the services provided by the Westfield Fire Department.

Permits

A Fire Department permit constitutes permission to maintain, store, use or handle materials, or to conduct processes which produce conditions hazardous to life or property, or to install equipment used in connection with such activities.  Such permission shall not be construed as authority to violate, cancel or set aside any of the provision of the Fire Code.  Such permit shall not take the place of any license required by law.

Applications for permits shall be submitted to the Westlake VFD, at 19636 Saums Road, Houston, TX 77084.  Permit application packets sent via email will not be accepted.  The office hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.  For more information, please contact: contact@westlakevfd.net or call: 281-492-0560.

Applications for Fire Department permit shall be accompanied by plans when required by the Bureau.  Depending on the type of Fire Department permit, certain regulated activities require a supplemental application, additional information, site plans, floor layout plans, and proof of insurance.

Inspections

The Westlake Fire Department inspects the life safety components of new building construction, building remodels, and fire sprinkler & fire alarm systems to ensure compliance with the city code.  A Fire Inspector is assigned to each of these Fire Inspection Districts and responsible for conducting inspections within his/her area.

Subpoena Services

All subpoenas regarding a fire or medical incident that request a Fire Department member to appear at a legal hearing or trial for oral testimony (subpoena ad testificandum) MUST be hand-delivered AND include a $275 fee (check made payable to “Westlake Fire Department”).  For criminal subpoenas, a fee is not required.
