Our Mission

The mission of the Westlake Volunteer Fire Department is to save lives, protect property, safeguard the environment, and meet the needs of our community within our capacity

Provide assistance to surrounding fire departments and their communities.

We serve with compassion, commitment, and courage in an atmosphere that embraces diversity, encourages professional development, and supports aggressive training programs.

We do what we say we will do to the best of our ability and certifications. We care about the people we serve, their property, the environment, and each other.

Core Values

Integrity / Trust: We are honest and fair in our dealings with each other and with members of our community. We are honorable to our profession and we inspire ourselves and each other to maintain trustworthiness, openness, and sincerity. We rely on the integrity, ability, and character of those we serve with, those we lead, and those who lead us because our lives depend on it. We are committed to maintaining the trust of our community.

Respect: We treat everyone with dignity and expect others to treat us with dignity. We value the role each member plays in our Department.

Accountability: We hold ourselves and others responsible for our actions. We do not make excuses or try to place blame on other people.

Compassion: We are aware of the misfortune and suffering of those we serve in their time of need and have a strong desire to help them.

Teamwork: We are committed to working together and supporting each other. We value the input of others, including those within our Department and within our community.

Courage: We strive to overcome fear and adversity, both physically and morally, in order to always do the right thing; not the easy thing.

Dedication: We faithfully fulfill our duties and obligations to each other, the Department, and the community.

Family / Brotherhood: We believe our Department is more than just a place of duty. It is our extended family and our success or failure is dependent on the commitment and unity we have with each other.

Our Story

In 1975, the residents of the Westlake and surrounding communities started the Westlake Fire Department with fewer than twenty members, a van, and four-hundred feet of assorted hose.

Facilities

Westlake Volunteer Fire Department operates a centralized station that was completed in 2014, servicing the Houston suburb of Katy, TX. The Department facilities provide a location where the volunteers and firemen and their families are welcome, as they’re devoting precious free time to serve the community.

The Fire Station and Training Facility encourage firemen and volunteers to participate in the day-to-day activities of the department, creating a family atmosphere then they can’t be with their families.

Apparatus

The Westlake Fire Department protects a diverse and challenging community. Our district is fairly unique, with airports, bayous, skyscrapers, dense neighborhoods, not to mention parks and brush-filled woodlands. To protect all of that, a wide variety of specialized firefighting and life safety apparatus is required.
